BIOGRAPHY:
John Reed has been working in clay since 2007, taking ceramics courses at Brookhaven Community College in Dallas, Texas, working out of his home studio, and attending workshops with several noted ceramics artists. He has exhibited at a number of juried shows over this period.
John holds a PhD in Corporate Training and Development and master’s degrees in business and education. Before retiring, he worked for several top Fortune corporations in management, professional and technical positions, as well as running his own consulting business. He has taught at the university level, worked at regional, national and international levels with public and private educational organizations, and is a published author. He was inducted into Who's Who and is a decorated military veteran.
ARTIST STATEMENT:
My work explores the use of clay, form, texture, pattern, color, and surface. Native American Southwestern pottery was an early influence on my shapes and forms, as well as firing and glazing techniques that bring their own music to the creative dance.
Encouraged to "find my own voice," I have discovered that my "voice" is one of exploration, the "what if" where change is the only constant and mistakes are the forerunners of success. It is my desire to provide others with a touch of the same pleasure as I get from creating simple but elegant works of art.
