Audrey Legatowicz was born in Chicago, Illinois. After taking an adult education weaving class, she was inspired to study weaving on her own, basically self taught.
In 1980, Audrey moved to Dallas, Texas. She then started her weaving business;exhibiting and selling her work at juried art fairs and galleries throughout the country.
Her professional background also includes gallery management, and instructor of weaving. Audrey was the fiber art instructor at Booker T. Washington High School in Dallas for eight years (1996-2004).
Audrey’s handwoven designs are primarily created with natural fibers; some of which incorporate her handspun wool and mohair yarns. The collection includes wearable art and accessories, as well as items for the home or office.
Audrey’s latest creations include felted wall art. Several commissions grace the walls of public places such as the Renaissance Hotel in Fort Worth, Texas and the Goodfellow Air Force Base in San Angelo, Texas.
Audrey’s fascination with beads has also lead her in the direction of beaded jewelry and mixed media art forms.
Whether it is adornment for the body, home, or public places, her creations add beauty and a sense of spirit for others to enjoy.
