Anne-Marie Haynes
ARTIST STATEMENT:
This is "our" story - very honest, very entrenched in family, very special.
We started with a love for wood, particularly river-recovered cypress, and time spent together. Home base is DFW - where we get our uptown flair but work base is a small town in Louisiana - where we stay close to our southern soul.
In a simple workshop, located on the grounds of Momma's childhood home, we do things the real way...hands-on, with experience, passion and style. At the core of our company, is family. Momma is the best fine-finisher you've ever seen and oversees the final stages of each project, with a keen and experienced hand. Daddy (yes "Daddy"; I am southern, after all) keeps all the equipment current, up and running. Between catering gigs, Uncle Peter drives in from Atlanta to lend a hand with the heavy carpentry and my sister, Stephanie, joins in the fun by harvesting only the coolest of cypress accents. Me, well I'm happiest when covered in sawdust, selecting just the right piece of lumber and designing my next creation.
We are truly blessed and appreciate all the amazing and ever-growing support from friends, family and design professionals. Keep it coming...we are nothing if not for you!

Functional Art
When we design our furniture, we incorporate function and fun! By keeping our designs unique (which are copyrighted, btw), you know you’re getting a one-of-a-kind piece! If you like something that's no longer available, we can apply similar design principles and make it custom, just for you!
Custom Furniture
Stretch your imagination...push the envelope...go beyond the limits. At AMH & Co, we're all about creating something unique...one-of-a-kind...original pieces. If you have an idea, let's talk! If you have no idea, then we'll collaborate and create your special piece.
Reclaimed Serving Blocks
Designed to redefine your dining experience.
From the mill to your hands, an average of 20 hours is spent on each board! Serving blocks go through a 6-stage sanding process & hand-finished on all sides with a minimum of 3 coats of 100% organic beeswax & mineral oil. Serving blocks are food-safe, adorned with unique, recycled handles made from either wine barrel hoops or leather and most include non-skid rubber feet.
All pieces are hand signed, dated and numbered by the artist. Fun. Functional, One-of-a-kind.
Keeping Your Board Beautiful
Our serving blocks have been treated with a minimum of 6, hand-rubbed coats of our very own "Board Butter", developed exclusively by AMH & Company. It's pure and simple (just like us) - made from only the best organic beeswax and proprietary mineral oil.
Maintenance on our blocks is fairly low, depending upon how it's used. After each use, wipe down with a damp cloth and spray with 1/2 white vinegar - 1/2 water mixture (this is a natural, simple and inexpensive disinfectant). Wipe off the vinegar, apply a few drops of Board Butter and massage it into the wood, applying more or less, as necessary to achieve that gorgeous, like-new finish.
Please refrain from ever putting your serving block in the dishwasher or allowing it to soak in the sink; the water temperature will cause your board to warp and/or crack...(this is not a good thing!)
To neutralize odors, rub a lemon on the surface and wipe clean. Always remember to add a few drops of oil to keep your board happy....and NEVER use vegetable or olive oil as a moisturizer; it can become rancid over time. We'll happily ship more Board Butter to you!!
If you're board feels rough, just take a scrubby or a piece of 600 - 800 grit sandpaper and give it a rub (always following the grain). This will exfoliate your board and create a mirror-smooth finish. Don't forget to reapply a bit of oil, afterwards!
We welcome your feedback and would love for you to share photos on our FB page at AMH & Company
